The Patrick Chege Memorial Orphanage is dedicated to the family ideal. In contrast to the dormitory style orphanages that are prevalent in the area, our orphanage is set up to reflect a family atmosphere. Children are placed within a family setting in small apartments with siblings and parents, they attend school outside the home and have standard family obligations such as daily chores. The family offers a level of love and support that is difficult to achieve within a dormitory style orphanage.

The orphanage itself is an apartment complex with several independent homes. Each home is separate and autonomous. Depending on the amount of children in a home, there are either one or two adult parents. Each home has a living room, numerous bedrooms for parents and children, bathrooms, and a kitchen.

This unique set-up is not only an ideal setting for raising children it also offers a home and family to our carefully selected employees, who themselves are badly in need of such a home. The men and women selected as parents at the Patrick Chege Memorial Orphanage are those unfortunate enough to have been affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, having been left without families of their own or the means to generate an income.
